Messiah's Mission Statement:
“To share the good news of
Jesus Christ
and to invite all to join us in faith, worship, and service.”
What we Believe:
The Lutheran movement began in 1517 when Martin Luther posted the 95 Theses on the door of the church in Wittenberg, Germany calling for the correction of errors in the medieval church. Lutheranism teaches that a person is saved only by the grace of God through the Holy Spirit and faith in Jesus Christ. The Lutheran Church acknowledges Jesus as Lord and Savior and the Bible as revealing God's will. Holy Baptism and Holy Communion (the Lord's Supper) are the two
sacraments - sacred acts of Christ, giving grace - that Lutherans celebrate. Lutherans are a community of people that gather regularly to baptize, commune, and speak the word of God, then go forth to spread the Good News of God's love and to serve others.

Each member of our elected Church Council becomes a liaison to one team to maintain communication amongst all working groups. Ad hoc teams may be created as the need arises to address particular items.
The Christian Education team promotes and oversees Sunday School which is at 9:30 each Sunday between our two services. They offer and support any special Christian education opportunities for the congregation including both a men’s and women’s Bible study that meets twice a month. Confirmation classes meet once a week.
The Evangelism team encourages the congregation to proclaim the Gospel in word and deed. They invite all interested persons to participate in the life and witness of the congregation. They promote the integration of new members into the life and ministries of the congregation. The Internet Team is a sub team of Evangelism. They will oversee the content of Messiah's web site. They will conform to the privacy
policy and website policy as set forth by this team.
The Fellowship team offers opportunities for the congregation to gather, so that members may grow in the knowledge, understanding, and support of one another.
The Finance team advises the Church Council regarding the financial affairs of the congregation so that they can be conducted efficiently.
The Property team arranges for the proper maintenance and protection of all congregational property. They also make recommendations to the Church Council for the use of church facilities.
The Social Ministry team responds to human need by coordinating the MCEF program, the Foster Children’s Christmas gift program, meals for Freedom House, collecting items for troops in Iraq, and various other projects that support care for the sick and suffering. They periodically report to the congregation on the volunteer needs of the community.
The Stewardship team challenges and supports all members in carrying out their Christian calling in daily life and as a congregation. They encourage the participation of all members in the ministries of the congregation through their giving of time and talent.
The Worship team arranges for regular Sunday services and for any special services. They supervise and support the Music Ministry of the congregation, recruit and train ushers, crucifers, acolytes, lay assistants, lectors, and nursery staff. They arrange for the care of altar and worship furnishings, sacred vessels, paraments, vestments, and musical instruments.
