This PRIVACY POLICY of Messiah Lutheran Church and School (Mechanicsville, VA) was last updated and approved by vote of its Church Council in August 2009. It remains in effect until amended or replaced by any later vote of Messiah Lutheran Church and School’s Council.
Messiah Lutheran Church and School (also identified hereafter as "the congregation") affirms the importance of one’s right to privacy and commits itself to respectfully handling and protecting all private identifying information. The congregation does not collect any personal, identifiable information about you unless you voluntarily submit such information to us, by, for example, sending us an e-mail message or applying to participate in a program. The types of information that may be requested include your name, address, or phone number as appropriate.
Aggregate Information:
The congregation may collect aggregate, non-personal information about its users and their usage of this web site and any related services. This information is not used to identify any individual user.

In these instances, the congregation requires that registration be completed and signed by the minor's parent or legal guardian.

Unfortunately, the congregation may not be able to delete other types of information, such as aggregate or stored information.

The congregation may make changes to its Privacy Policy from time to time without prior notice. When significant changes are made that affect how information that you provided to us is handled or used, we will post a notice on our website, and/or alert you to changes by other similar means. Policy Regarding Use of Children's Information ("COPPA")
1. Currently the congregation does not collect personal information from children under the age of 18 (name, home/e-mail address, phone number) unless to participate in activities as noted in Chapter 1. Should it need to do so for any other reason, the congregation shall:
A. Post a link to the privacy policy on the home page and at each area where
information is collected from children.
B. Shall not require a child to disclose more information than is reasonably
necessary to participate in an activity.
C. Shall get verifiable parental consent to collect personal information.
D. Shall get new consent when information practices materially change.
E. Shall allow parents to review personal information collected from their
children.
F. Shall allow parents to revoke consent and delete information collected from
their children at the parent’s request.
G. Shall post a privacy policy that complies with COPPA including:
(1). Name and contact information of the operator of the site
(2). The kinds of personal information collected
(3). Whether and to whom the operator discloses the children’s personal
information
2. The congregation will not post or distribute personally identifiable information of children under 18 years (name, address, phone number, e-mail address) without prior written parental permission.
3. Said prior written parental permission will be sought using the congregation’s Authorization and Release form (available through the congregation’s office).
